Honda has been a driving force in innovative automotive technology for decades. They have created technology that has revolutionized performance, and efficiency, tech that other companies have latched onto. But these innovations begin at home, inside of Honda vehicles.
One of those technologies is Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS). Let’s take a closer look at this innovative technology.
HOW IT WORKS
CMBS monitors surrounding traffic using both cameras and radar. In the event that a vehicle ahead comes to an abrupt stop, or a pedestrian or other obstacle enters the field of view, CMBS uses a complex system comprising of three stages of alerts to attempt to prevent a potential incident. The system is designed to use the alerts as needed in order to warn the driver of an obstacle. While there are three alerts, using all three isn’t always needed.
Let’s take a closer look at how CMBS goes about doing just that.
STAGE 1 – Audio/Visual Warning
This is exactly as it sounds. The initial stage uses both an audio and visual alert that prompts the driver into taking necessary action.
STAGE 2 – A/V warning with Light Braking
At this stage, you’ll get additional A/V warning, and CMBS uses light braking to help slow down your vehicle.
STAGE 3 – Full Braking
As this is the final warning, the A/V alerts continue, but the CMBS initiates full braking in order to prevent an incident. The e-pretensions for the seatbelts are also engaged in case of impact
The CMBS system can be turned off easily via an accessible toggle location directly on the steering wheel. With CMBS, Honda covers all your angles so that you can have the ultimate Peace of Mind when you’re behind the wheel.
