Everyone knows picking out a car is a long and painful and arduous and horrible and awful and the worst… okay, I’m exaggerating, but it’s not a process people tend to look forward to, but it’s necessary. Part of that process is the test drive, which many, myself included, consider that the most crucial step in choosing a car. Now while it’s not typically something people gloss over, it is something that people don’t tend to give the proper amount of attention to. It really should be something you do with a fine tooth comb-like level of precision.
So with that, here are 5 things you need to do to make the most out of your test drive.
Step 1 – Research
Since we live in a world that offers instant access to the largest database of information at your very fingertips, you should probably use it. The internet is a great tool for this. Even the dealership’s websites offer a comprehensive look through reviews or through more intricate items like technology pages for companies like Honda and BMW. You can do this, so you don’t go into a situation blind.
Step 2 – Ask questions
If for some reason you didn’t have the time to research and yet you still find yourself in one of our fabulous showrooms (West Side Acura’s is new and quite spiffy), make sure that you talk to the sales people about the vehicles you may be interested in. Each and every one of our sales people make it their mission to be experts on each and every one of our vehicles. So don’t be shy. Ask. Ask. Ask and ask. It’s the only way you’ll get what you want and really that’s exactly what our goal is, that you walk away happy.
Step 3 – Try things
There are no limits on test drives. Okay, there probably is a limit, but whatever that is, I don’t know it, and I’m not sure that it’s ever really been implanted by a dealership ever. My point is, it’s your right, and maybe even your responsibility to test out as many vehicles as you want and need. At the end of the day, we want you to drive away with something that you love, which means sometimes you have to see what’s out there before you truly know who the one is.
Step 4 – Hesitate
Sometimes people feel pressured to make decisions. This isn’t something that leads to happy campers, or customers for that matter. What I mean by hesitate is that you need to think about what you want out of a vehicle, and then make sure you make that happen. Really think. Think about price, style, color, interior styling, whether you want a specific feature like BMW’s Night vision. Whatever it is you want, figure that out and we’ll be happy to accommodate your every need.
Step 5 – Pick
Once you’ve gone through all the other things on this list, it is time for the last and honestly, the most fun part of the process. Pick a vehicle and buy it. Once you’ve found the one you love, tell someone, tell the world, but more importantly, tell a sales person so they can go out into the lot and get it for you. Refer a member of your family or be sure to say you have been referred by someone to get rewards.
Now that you’re all ready to go, book a test drive at one of our dealerships or visit our websites to research and see what our inventory has to offer.
