What maintenance does your car need this summer?
Summer is kind of a big deal around the Edmonton area. That may be partly due to the fact that we wait around through generally awful weather for around eight months out of the year to finally get a bit of heat and sunshine. But before you do so, you need to make sure your vehicle is up to snuff. It doesn’t matter if you drive a 2016 Honda Civic, which is known for its reliability, or a 2016 Acura TLX, which is a phenomenal machine, you need to ensure your vehicle is operating at the top of its game.
So here, are the top 5 car maintenance things you should do this summer.
#1 – Clean
Let’s not limit this in any way. Wash it inside and out. A clean car runs better, that’s just a fact. If you’re looking to head out on a long trip, get it detailed (ask your dealership), you won’t regret it. Just make sure your car isn’t caked with dust when you drive off into the sunset.
#2 – Get wet!
Check your fluids. You probably haven’t been paying much attention to your fluid levels, so make sure you’ve got fresh oil, brake fluid, windshield washer fluid, and even gas, you’ll be all the better for it.
#3 – New threads
Whether that’s changing out your winter tires (YOU HAVEN’T DONE THAT ALREADY?!), or your current set are getting worn down, you want to make sure you have a good grip on the road. A new, fresh set of tires is priceless (actually they do have a price, but you get it), so don’t skimp out.
#4 – STOP!
This is very important. Brakes should be, if not the highest, near the top of your list to have a well-functioning vehicle. Get them checked before you do any kind of serious driving this summer. Even if you’re not looking to do anything serious, it’s better safe than sorry.
#5 – Finally
